Doxycycline may increase the risk of cardiovascular events (e.g., heart attack, stroke, myocardial infarction), especially in patients taking atorvastatin or alfuzosin.

The maximum recommended dose of doxycycline for patients with a known hypersensitivity to any component of the drug is 100 or 50 mg/day, whichever is less.

The drug may also causeax discoloration in some patients. Patients should avoid using doxycycline with ax discoloration because the discoloration may spread to the spinal fluid, causing serious skin reactions.
